On May 27, 2026, the HANT Foundation – Institute of Psychohygiene and Neurodiversity launched the Speaking Club, a new educational and community-based initiative aimed at developing language skills, supporting social integration, and building confidence in communication in English and Polish.
The first meeting took place at Ginger Cafe in Grodzisk Wielkopolski and brought together participants interested in improving their language skills in an atmosphere of support, openness, and mutual respect.
Background of the Initiative
For many people, especially those with migration experience, language proficiency is a key factor in successful social integration, access to education, employment opportunities, and active participation in community life.
At the same time, language barriers are often accompanied by insecurity, fear of making mistakes, communication difficulties, and an increased risk of social isolation.
For this reason, the Speaking Club was created as a safe and welcoming environment where participants can practice foreign languages without judgment, develop practical communication skills, and gradually overcome psychological barriers related to speaking.
Objectives of the Initiative
The main goals of the Speaking Club are:
- to develop spoken communication skills in English and Polish;
- to support social and intercultural integration;
- to reduce language-related anxiety and communication barriers;
- to strengthen confidence in everyday communication;
- to create a space for mutual support and informal learning;
- to prevent social isolation and encourage community engagement.
Format and Activities
The meeting was conducted in the form of interactive group activities and informal conversations.
Participants:
- introduced themselves and got to know one another;
- took part in communication exercises;
- practiced English and Polish in everyday-life situations;
- discussed topics related to daily life, culture, and personal experiences;
- developed both language and social competencies in a supportive environment.
Special attention was given to creating an atmosphere of trust, acceptance, and mutual encouragement.
Outcomes of the Event
As a result of participating in the Speaking Club, attendees:
- gained opportunities for regular language practice;
- improved their communication skills;
- increased confidence in using foreign languages;
- experienced the benefits of belonging to a supportive community;
- strengthened their motivation for continued learning and personal development.
The event also contributed to the development of new social connections, expansion of local networks, and a stronger sense of belonging within the community.
Social Impact of the Initiative
The Speaking Club serves as an important tool for promoting social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and active community participation.
By combining language practice with relationship-building and peer support, the initiative helps reduce social isolation, strengthen social capital, and improve participants’ overall quality of life.
